SD Demining goggles....

Changes to IMAS 10.30 in 2009 make it acceptable for deminers to wear 5mm polycarbonate goggles when the risk assessment suggests that this would be appropriate. Users tell us that goggles can be appropriate when conducting BAC, when using long demining tools such as demining-rakes, or when supervising the work of others.

Goggles and bags

Our goggles have a single heat-formed 5mm polycarbonate lens held in a comfortable foam lined frame that is well ventilated. Supplied in a padded belt-bag, they have a broad elastic strap that allows them to be worn directly on the head or over most helmets.

The IMAS are specific when they state that industrial safety spectacles, or any eye protection that is less than 5mm thick do NOT meet the requirement.

BEWARE: some of the goggles available do not have 5mm lenses. These are not suitable for use in Humanitarian Demining because they do not meet the minimum requirements of IMAS 10.30 (2009).
